Quilt Designers Plan Studio Tour

The group of blogging Quilt Designers (patterns, books, art quilts) is hosting a “peek inside my quilt studio” style of blog tour starting April 10th. This is a great chance to see how they set up their quilting areas for work and play! Look for the following logo, which will take you from quilt studio to quilt studio among the 20 or so designers who are participating. blog-tour-image2

Kay Mackenzie’s newest book
will be shipping to quilt shops in early March.

This library of 50 fun, fresh designs is ready and waiting for the appliqué enthusiast. You’ll find flowers, baskets, birds, animals, fruits, teapots, hearts, and a whole variety of what can only be described as offbeat and unique designs, at your fingertips! Some of the blocks recall traditional appliqué motifs, while others are modern, fun, or whimsical in nature. Something for everyone, with big, easy-to-sew pieces.

Use your own favorite method, or learn a new one as Kay shares her tips for three kinds of appliqué: freezer-paper-on-top, back-basting, and machine appliqué.

eab-kay-blooms-red-yellowCD included! Enjoy browsing through the book, then use the CD with your computer to print out the blocks you’ve selected in the size you want. The CD includes all 50 designs in five sizes each, plus reversed versions for back-basting or machine appliqué.

More Cupcakes, Please :)

cupcakes-lakehouseHolly Holderman of Lakehouse Dry Goods tells us:

I just wanted to alert all of you that we have decided to re-print the pink cupcake fabric (LH 08010 pink) one more time. It should be back in stock again in late April / early May. (I’ll keep you posted.) You may want to tell your LQS, so that they can get their hands on a bolt or two before we sell through another printing. We’re about 85% committed already.

Kona Bay moves to Redmond, WA

nobu-31-navyNo more soft Hawaiian breeze for Douglas and the group at Kona Bay, they are huddled under their umbrellas in Washington State, consolidating Seattle Bay and Kona Bay operations on the mainland. There goes my “excuse” to visit Hawaii! Keep up with Kona Bay Blog for the inside scoop and touch bases with their website regularly for their newest releases.
