Beyond The Gate – a BOM

Margaret Bucklew announces Beyond The Gate. It was designed for quilters that just couldn’t wait for the typical twelve month BOM. It is 92″ x 109″ and is fun to complete. Because of the size of the quilt, the photo doesn’t show any detail, so she put together a video with close ups and a tour of the quilt.

Scrappy Bali Orchids

A quilt and a story by Rochelle Martin of Cottage Quilt Designs! This pieced and appliquéd quilt has scrappy blocks to use up your stash and 6 applique blocks of orchids. The pattern includes instructions to make it in throw, queen or king sizes. With the set of six patterns comes the 24 page book, Orchid Remembrance, written by Laura Day, Rochelle’s daughter. Laura has been published many times in Cotton Spice Magazine with her quilt mystery series about Isabelle and Tara.

A day in the Country

a-day-in-the-countryArbee Designs presents this BOM for spring with 6 patterns, 21 blocks and 7 techniques used. This could cover a half year of classes and give your students a great quilt that will inspire them to keep learning.

Cozy Quilt Designs

I wrote “awesome” on the brochure after leaving their booth at Quilt Market! Awesome people, awesome patterns, awesome presentation and most of all: awesome Shop Hop Idea! Set aside quite a bit of time, then start with their new items. Be sure to click on several of their links for wonderful, creative, different, eye appealing patterns.

Bohemian Boquet

Flora and fauna frolic across the surface of this 48″ square appliqué quilt by Susan Brubaker Knapp of Blue Moon River. Rich jewel-tone applique pops off the black background.

Susan used needleturn appliqué, but this pattern can be done using fusible web and satin stitching, too.

This makes a great block-of-the-month project, since there are 11 blocks (two patterns have the design flipped in the second version of the block).

Individual patterns retail for $5 plus shipping, and a set of all 11 patterns retails for $55 plus shipping. All are available on Susan’s website,

Wholesale inquiries are welcome. Detailed kitting instructions are available, and are free to quilt shops purchasing at least 12 sets of patterns.

Calla Lily Day Dream

New from Cottage Quilt Designs, the Calla Lily Day Dream BOM From Designer Rochelle Martin:

Calla Lily Day Dreams
size: 96″
Cost: $5 per block or $45 per complete set
Yardage is in the first block and finishing details are in the ninth block.

I designed this quilt as our gift for my son and new daughter-in-law’s wedding of January of this year. Cala, my daughter-in-law, loves calla lilies and had them in her wedding. She and our son loves this quilt. I’ve had three quilters tell me that they are making it for their son’s wedding! The appliqué can be done in fusible web or hand appliqué methods.

Dorothy Baker Designs

This is just one of several lovely BOM’s and patterns by Dorothy Baker Designs. Take a look here for more…….I just love the bears and the Woodland Christmas series and her fairies quilt looks like a “Best In Show” ribbon winner at any quilt show. For all you bunny lovers, she has a quilt for you too. You can contact the designer through her blog.

Florine Johnson Designs

Florine Johnson is the creator of Rowdy and his pals “Those Radical Roosters” and I’ve loved them ever since she first introduced them years ago. She has steadily added to the collection and it’s a lively and popular group! There are now enough for the Block-of-the-Month and Florine offers this and a set of notecards and more on her website. It was a rare occurrence to catch her booth without a crowd around or in it.

It’s A Mystery

Susan Brubaker Knapp and Blue Moon River announces a Bohemian Bouquet Block-of-the-Month Mystery in applique.

With four blocks released to date, the following blocks are scheduled for release on the 15th of each month through November 2008.

All of the patterns will be available by the end of the year. At that time, Susan will also be offering kitting/cutting instructions for quilt shop owners interested in doing this quilt as a 2009 block-of-the-month program in their shops. Look for photos and tips each month on the Blue Moon River Blog!
