Simply Amazing Spiral Quilts Book

I watched RaNae Merrill demonstrate her technique at the Checker Booth and she had her crowed hanging on every word. Absolutely gorgeous quilts from a practically fool proof method in a book that contains a CD with patterns and templates for you make this the hottest book introduced in Houston for the 2008 Quilt Market.

Simply Amazing Spiral Quilts has a whopping 160 pages containing everything you need to know to make your own simply amazing spiral quilt. From fabric designing to quilt designing RaNae has style and and her work has a WOW factor times two. This is the nicest book I’ve opened in quite a while. Congratulations RaNae and Krause Publications.

Ribbons Galore!

The booth was always swarming every time I walked past May Arts – – their ribbons, trims, rick racks (one and a half inch wide rick rack! In the most delicious colors!) in polka dots, ginghams, metallics and pin stripes and oh, so much more.

Serendipity Studio

Hot, hot, HOT! Kay is as cute as her clothes, and (wonderful man!) her husband is right there supporting her efforts. With a booth at Quilt Market and lots of projects in the works, she is one hard working and very stylishly dressed lady, wearing her own designs!

Surf on over to Serendipty Studio or just soak in her blog posts, to find inspiration and eye candy. Here’s her Sophia Trench Coat Pattern and she’s got lots more patterns where this one came from………

Maggie Ball

How wonderful is it to meet up with someone you have come to admire from what you’ve read on the internet? That’s what happened for me at Houston Quilt Market. Krause Publications author Maggie Ball of Dragonfly Quilts was at Market and our paths crossed several times, but it wasn’t until I returned home that I tied her together with her efforts to bring quilting and home industry to Mongolia, a project that I’d admired when I found it surfing the web.

Her new book is a treasure, Bargello Quilts with a Twist, and Maggie has also designed fabrics for David Textiles, in addition to traveling and teaching. I believe that I talked her into starting a blog – stay tuned!
