Understand pricing in this industry. The following information is generalized and very basic. Retail means the price the customer pays; wholesale is usually 50-60% off retail and distributor pricing (very large quantity orders, therefore they can demand even lower pricing) can be 30% off the wholesale price. YOU decide YOUR price for wholesale and distributor pricing and retail price is set by the SELLER. Most distributors will pay shipping on patterns but not on books. Be sure you understand the shipping arrangements and include an invoice with the shipment of your goods. Mark it “NET 30″ and you’ll be paid within 30 days of them receiving the goods.
When you query any of the distributors, include your product (free) and an introductory letter. State your prices in the letter and how fast you can turn an order around. Provide all of your contact information, including phone numbers, and when they call you, expect to receive an order with the word hundreds (possibly thousands) in it. My first order left me breathless, working every waking moment, and numbered in the thousands.
